Challenge

Bluetooth trackers fall short in outdoor settings due to limited range (<50m). Typical GPS pet collars suffer massive position drift (>20m) beneath dense forest canopies and drain batteries in under 48 hours. Furthermore, handlers demanded real-time acoustic recognition to differentiate defensive barking from distress whimpering.

Product Concept & Architecture

The collar is powered by the Quectel EG915N ultra-compact LTE Cat-1 bis modem with embedded eSIM, combined with a high-sensitivity quad-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS/BDS/GLONASS/Galileo) with -162 dBm tracking sensitivity. The audio sub-system features a weatherproof acoustic MEMS microphone pair and a high-efficiency Class-D amplifier for two-way VoLTE voice streaming. Built around the ST LSM6DSV16X 6-axis IMU inside a glass-fiber reinforced polycarbonate chassis rated to IP68 and MIL-STD-810H.

Engineering Solution

Adaptive GNSS Power Management: An on-device motion state machine switches power regimes dynamically: GNSS sleep during pet rest, periodic GNSS fixes during slow walks, and instant 1Hz live tracking upon geofence breach, achieving ±1.2m outdoor precision.
Edge Audio TinyML Classifier: A quantized 1D-CNN operates locally on audio MFCC frames, classifying vocalizations into 4 distinct behaviors in <200ms: Alert Bark, Separation Anxiety Whimper, Distress Howl, and Heavy Panting with 98.2% accuracy.
Two-Way VoLTE Intercom: Hardware acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) and wind noise filtering enable handlers to initiate immediate voice calls to comfort the dog or transmit recall commands.

Global coverage across 180+ countries via multi-IMSI eSIM with escape trigger alerts dispatched within 2.3 seconds. Delivers 14 days of typical battery life, successfully assisting over 320 outdoor lost-pet recoveries with a sub-0.4% RMA rate.
