Educational device for kids that generates bedtime stories.
An ed-tech startup focusing on early childhood reading habits without screen time.
Creating a rugged, screen-free audio device capable of reading NFC-embedded books and playing high-quality audio while surviving drops from 1.5 meters.
The Zhongke Lanxun AB5301A audio SoC was chosen for its extreme integration, combining a 32-bit RISC-V core, Bluetooth, and audio codecs. An NXP PN532 module handles the NFC book scanning.
We designed a unibody ABS+PC enclosure with silicone bumpers. The firmware, written in bare-metal C, optimizes the I2C polling rate of the NFC reader to save power. When a book is tapped, the MCU fetches the corresponding encrypted audio file from an internal 8GB eMMC and decodes it through the integrated DAC.
Instant audio playback upon NFC tap (<100ms latency). Drop-tested to 1.5m on concrete. Battery provides 20 hours of continuous playback.
