Digital frame that uses CV to auto-crop and enhance photos.

A luxury home decor brand creating a large-format (21-inch) digital canvas that curates and enhances family photos automatically.
Driving a 2K IPS display while running AI image upscaling and facial grouping locally, without active cooling fans that would disrupt the living room environment.
The Rockchip RK3566 (Quad-core Cortex-A55, 1.0 TOPS NPU) was selected. It provides the necessary MIPI-DSI bandwidth for the 2K panel and the NPU power for image processing. 4GB LPDDR4 handles the memory-intensive graphics pipeline.
We developed an Android 11 BSP. Using Rockchip's RKNN API, we implemented an edge-based Super Resolution GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) that upscale low-res smartphone photos sent via the cloud. We designed a custom aluminum backplate that acts as a giant heatsink, keeping the SoC under 55°C during intense NPU loads.
Flawless 2K display rendering. Photos are grouped by faces locally (preserving privacy) and upscaled in <2 seconds per image.
Let's discuss how ChipTalk can deliver results for your next project.
