Challenge
Developing a robust, child-proof card reader that instantly recognizes NFC-tagged cards (even when inserted upside-down or at an angle) and plays high-quality audio in 8 languages.
Product Concept & Architecture
The Jieli AC692N audio SoC handles NFC polling and audio decoding. An RC522 NFC module reads passive tags embedded in each flashcard.
Engineering Solution
We implemented a custom antenna geometry that provides 40mm read range, ensuring detection regardless of insertion angle. When a card is detected, the 7-byte UID is decrypted to determine the language and word. Audio is decoded via the AC692N's hardware MP3 decoder for instant playback (<100ms).
Result
0% card detection failure rate in child testing (2-6 year olds). 100ms audio playback latency.
