Learns your perfect cup: temperature profile, bloom time, and grind optimization.

A specialty coffee equipment manufacturer seeking a connected espresso machine with automated recipe tuning.
Achieving water temperature stability within ±0.5°C during active extraction while running real-time pressure profiling, all within a 150mm diameter boiler housing.
The ESP32-C6 with its Wi-Fi 6 and 802.11ax connectivity was selected as the main controller. A MAX31850 thermocouple amplifier reads boiler temperature, while a pressure transducer monitors the group head. A MOSFET-driven 1200W heater element provides rapid heat-up.
The firmware implements a cascaded PID loop on the ESP32-C6: an outer loop controls brew water temperature, and an inner loop modulates the vibration pump PWM for pressure profiling. User feedback (sour/bitter ratings) trains a local Bayesian optimizer that adjusts temperature and pressure parameters per coffee bean profile. Brew logs sync to cloud via Matter protocol for smart home integration.
Repeatable extraction within 0.3°C and 0.2 bar. Over 200 brew profiles crowd-sourced and shared via the companion app. Winner of 2025 SCA Best New Product award.
